NABU and SAP Expose Criminal Organization Behind Call Center Protection
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) have uncovered a criminal organization led by the head of a department in the Office of the Prosecutor General. Five individuals have been suspected. In 2025, one of the leaders of the Office of the Prosecutor General created a criminal organization by involving employees of law enforcement agencies and close associates. Members of the organization received illegal benefits for not obstructing the activities of call centers engaged in fraudulent actions. The group members laundered bribes through the acquisition of real estate, jewelry, and depositing funds into the accounts of relatives. The organizer of the scheme registered properties in a residential complex near the Carpathians under fictitious names, with a value exceeding 12 million UAH. SAP and NABU have charged them with creating and participating in a criminal organization, as well as legalizing property obtained through criminal means (Article 255, Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In July, a fraudulent call center was shut down in Kyiv, whose participants deceived U.S. citizens out of more than $500,000.
