Zelensky Orders Expansion of Business Support After Russian Attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the government to expand support programs for businesses that continue to operate amid Russian attacks. After a meeting with owners of major supermarkets and marketplaces, Zelensky announced that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the National Bank, and the President's Office will prepare a decision to broaden support programs. Authorities plan to increase business participation in the affordable lending program, allowing enterprises that do not meet certain program requirements to receive financing. Business needs will be recorded weekly so that the government can promptly adjust decisions and regulations to ensure the supply of goods. Issues regarding the operation of enterprises during air alerts and a new format for danger notifications were also discussed. The Ministry of Economy is preparing changes to the support program for businesses affected by military actions, including increasing compensation to 5 million UAH and protecting agricultural machinery. Since August 2026, Russia has been deliberately targeting warehouses and food logistics in Ukraine, resulting in the destruction of about 90% of food storage capacities. However, there is no threat of famine. In recent days, several enterprises have been affected, including the confectionery corporation Roshen, the 'Avrora' store chain, 'Fora', and 'Kolo', as well as the Varus chain.
