Microsoft Releases MAI-Image-2.6-Flash, Doubling the Speed of the World's Best AI Model

Microsoft has launched its self-developed image generation model MAI-Image-2.6-Flash, which is now available for public preview through Microsoft Foundry. This model shares core capabilities with MAI-Image-2.6, including text-to-image and image-to-image/image editing functionalities such as object removal/replacement, local repainting, and attribute modification, with a focus on optimizing generation speed and cost. In terms of pricing, text input is charged at $1.75 per million tokens, image input at $2.50, and image output at $19. Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft AI, stated that the generation speed of this model is twice that of the world's best model, GPT-Image-2-Medium, with a 72% improvement in GPU efficiency. Microsoft recommends using MAI-Image-2.6 for production materials and complex editing, while the Flash version is suggested for tasks sensitive to latency and cost.
