Jensen Huang Warns of Falling Behind in the AI Revolution
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that AI should be regarded as a national infrastructure, warning that treating it merely as an object of fear could lead to falling behind in the technological revolution. He stated at the G20 Innovation Ministers' Meeting on September 2 that countries must spread AI across their industries and build the infrastructure to support it. CEO Huang noted that AI has increased accessibility by enabling programming computers in human language, calling it a 'great equalizer.' He explained that AI consists of five layers: energy, chips, infrastructure, AI models, and data and applications, urging countries to determine which layers to invest in and to develop strategies for adopting AI. He clarified that AI is not limited to software, and that adding various functionalities to large language models could extend its applications to robots and autonomous vehicles. CEO Huang mentioned that approximately $1 trillion in investments would be made in the U.S., highlighting the importance of building AI infrastructure for economic growth and job creation. He stressed that advancements in technology and responsible development must go hand in hand regarding AI safety, stating that 'the worst outcome is to fail to utilize it and fall behind.'
