Centrifuge Launches $1.5 Billion Tokenization Strategy with Royalty Vault Operations
Centrifuge, Janus Henderson, and SmartMedia Technologies have begun a collaboration to operate the reserve for their royalty program through an on-chain vault. The initial focus will be on Janus Henderson's tokenization strategies, JTRSY and JAAA, which together have a total managed asset value of $1.5 billion as of August 2026. This vault combines SMT's royalty infrastructure, Centrifuge's tokenization technology, and Janus Henderson's asset management capabilities. Centrifuge explained that customers can earn and use points within existing digital environments. The royalty program is a familiar area for consumers, issuing over $300 billion in value annually, but the assets backing it are often managed separately. The on-chain vault is designed as a custodial infrastructure to hold and manage assets on the blockchain. This announcement demonstrates an expansion beyond the issuance of tokenized assets to include reserve management and portfolio construction. However, the specific custodial structure and scope of the vault were not detailed. Centrifuge has also recently expanded its liquidity infrastructure for tokenized funds, announcing that it provides $1.6 billion in liquidity across three funds: JAAA, JTRSY, and NYLIM HYB.
