Aqua Resumes Lightning and Liquid Exchange Functionality Through Indra
Aqua has resumed the exchange functionality between the Lightning Network and the Liquid Network through its self-developed Indra. The exchange path, which relied on external services, has been moved to the wallet's internal infrastructure. JAN3 began the open testing of Indra on the 16th, and Indra serves as Aqua's dedicated Liquid and Lightning exchange system, supporting the existing Vaults API signatures. The currently supported feature is the ability to pay Lightning invoices with Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC). The reverse exchange function, which allows for converting received Lightning payments into L-BTC, will be added later. Aqua users can utilize Indra without having to set up their own Lightning nodes, and a non-custodial approach is applied, allowing users to maintain control over their assets. This transition is due to the service interruption of Vaults, which announced that its service was halted on August 3 due to an automated attack. Aqua has previously used Vaults to process Lightning payments. JAN3 plans to add several Lightning exchange service providers, including Blockstream Swap. Currently, the public testing of Indra is limited to the functionality of sending L-BTC to Lightning invoices, and the timeline for supporting reverse exchanges is yet to be determined.
