The Illusion of ARB Recovery: Why the Token's Rise Doesn't Seem Reliable Yet
The illusion of ARB recovery is built on a strong market reaction to the launch of Robinhood Chain, but this movement should be approached with caution: the token remains in a global downtrend, and significant unlocks are ahead for the market.
- The launch of Robinhood Chain on the Arbitrum Orbit infrastructure has supported interest in ARB: the network has shown high fees and notable trading volumes.
- The rise resembles a classic "Buy on Rumors" scheme: the revenues of the new network are not yet directed to token holders directly, as a separate vote will be required for that.
- In mid-September, over 230 million ARB will enter circulation, which could increase volatility and pressure on the price.
- The current upward movement appears more like a correction within a broad descending channel rather than a reversal.
What is Arbitrum and Why is it Needed
Arbitrum is a Layer 2 solution for Ethereum. It helps to offload the main network: part of the operations is processed outside the base blockchain and then sent to Ethereum in a more compact form via rollups.
This approach allows the network to conduct more transactions and reduce fees for users. For projects, it provides the opportunity to launch applications on top of Ethereum while maintaining a connection to its ecosystem without being constrained by the same limitations on speed and cost of operations.
What Sparked Interest in ARB
Since the beginning of 2026, ARB has lost nearly 20% on the Coinbase exchange. However, the third quarter has been significantly stronger for the token: since early July, its market capitalization has nearly doubled, and the decline of the previous quarter has been fully recovered.
The main driver has been Robinhood Chain—a Layer 2 network for Ethereum launched using Arbitrum Orbit infrastructure. This project has given the market a reason to reassess short-term expectations for ARB.
Arbitrum Orbit allows for the launch of separate networks based on Arbitrum technologies and to customize them for specific tasks. In the case of Robinhood Chain, this has heightened attention to the ecosystem: if such launches gain scale, the demand for Arbitrum infrastructure may become more sustainable. However, for ARB itself, the key question remains whether token holders will receive direct benefits from these revenues.
The metrics for the network indeed looked bright. Daily fees, according to crypto experts, reached up to $3.75 million, allowing Robinhood Chain to surpass Ethereum and Coinbase in fees. According to CoinMarketCap, the total trading volume on decentralized exchanges in this network exceeded $47 billion in less than three months, and daily gross revenue increased nearly 20 times—to $1.1 million.
Why the Rally Might Be a Trap
The strong figures from Robinhood Chain do not yet mean direct benefits for ARB holders. The network's revenues are not automatically distributed among them. To change this order, a separate vote is necessary. Therefore, the current rise resembles an advance given by the market based on expectations rather than a movement backed by an already functioning cash flow.
As long as the revenues from Robinhood Chain are not directly transferred to ARB holders, the rally should be viewed as a movement based on expectations rather than a confirmed reversal.
An additional risk is the upcoming unlocks. The schedule for the nearest token releases looks like this:
- September 16: 92.6 million ARB worth about $15 million.
- September 23: 139 million ARB, about 1.4% of the total token supply.
Such a volume of new coins can significantly increase price fluctuations. If demand cannot withstand the influx of supply, pressure on ARB may quickly return.
For ARB, unlocks are not the only concern. Other risk groups may also pressure the price:
- Technical risks: vulnerabilities, bugs, and failures in smart contracts or infrastructure.
- Regulatory risks: tightening rules for crypto projects and tokens may reduce investor interest.
- Liquidity risks: with weak demand, large sales can quickly shift the price.
- Competition among L2 solutions: if other Layer 2 networks grow faster, interest in ARB may weaken.
Technical Picture: Recovery Not Yet Confirmed
From a technical analysis perspective, the current upward movement is more logically viewed as a correction. The nearest target for buyers is around $0.20—where the first Fibonacci correction level of 23.6% lies.
The token has already approached this zone, but buyers have not managed to secure a position above it. Therefore, another attempt to test $0.20 is possible; however, a repeated approach to the level alone will not signify a trend change.
The price of ARB is currently influenced by several factors: interest in Robinhood Chain, expectations around potential revenue distribution, upcoming unlocks, demand for the L2 segment, and overall investor appetite for risk.
On the weekly chart, the regression price channel still points downward. This is the main argument against excessive optimism. Until ARB breaks through $0.20, and preferably $0.25, it is premature to talk about a full reversal.
The base scenario remains cautious: without breaking through $0.20, the movement looks like a correction. A stronger scenario will only emerge with a consolidation above $0.25; a weak scenario would be a return of pressure after unlocks if demand does not absorb the new coins.
On the external front, particularly important for the crypto market are:
- The dynamics of risky assets;
- Dollar liquidity;
- Oil prices.
Oil above key levels may influence inflation and rate expectations, and thus indirectly reflect on investor appetite for volatile instruments.
The main conclusion remains cautious: the growth of ARB looks impressive only over a short stretch. Without securing above important technical levels and without a clear mechanism for transferring Robinhood Chain revenues to token holders, this recovery remains too fragile.
