Solana Governance Proposal SGP-0002 Passed, Schwab to Support Trading
The governance proposal SGP-0002, which aims to reduce the issuance rate of the Solana (SOL) network, has passed with 68.77% support. The fee structure reform proposal SGP-0003, however, only garnered 62.72% support and did not meet the threshold for passage. SGP-0002 proposes to increase Solana's annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, which would bring forward the timeline for reaching a terminal inflation rate of 1.5% to the first half of 2029, resulting in a reduction of 18.9 million SOL in new issuance over six years. Charles Schwab announced on the 27th that it will add Solana, Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) to Schwab Crypto. The new assets are expected to be available within a few months, and Schwab Crypto already offers direct trading of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). A fee of 0.75% will be charged on trading volumes, and accounts are not available in New York, Louisiana, and U.S. territories. DeFi Development (DFDV) reported on the 27th that it purchased approximately 19,000 SOL at an average price of $98.14. The resumption of DFDV's purchases indicates ongoing demand from listed company treasuries. Solana Company stated that it supported SGP-0001 but opposed SGP-0002 and SGP-0003.
