SoftBank Plans to Issue $20 Billion Bond to Finance OpenAI Investment
SoftBank Group is in talks with investment banks regarding a potential bond issuance plan of $10 billion to $20 billion to raise funds to support its investment in OpenAI. The bond issuance may be denominated in US dollars and euros, with the earliest launch possibly in September, while the specific size and terms are still under negotiation. A portion of the proceeds from the issuance will be used to repay the $40 billion bridge loan that SoftBank secured earlier this year for its investment in OpenAI. SoftBank plans to invest nearly $65 billion in OpenAI before October, with part of the funds coming from loans.
