President Trump’s WLFI Tokens Can Be Sold Starting in 2028
President Trump’s World Liberty Financial (WLFI) tokens, valued at approximately $800 million, will be gradually available for sale starting in 2028. The previously indefinite lock-up period has been converted to a structure where the sale is restricted for two years and then released over three years. In May, 30 billion WLFI tokens were moved to a vesting smart contract, and currently, 14.175 billion WLFI remain. This agreement specifies the timeline for the sale of the founder's tokens and was decided through a governance vote supported by 11,537 wallets. WLFI holdings are at the center of a conflict of interest controversy in the U.S. government's digital asset policy decision-making process and are gaining attention in relation to the strengthening of ethical regulations in the 'Clarity Act' currently being discussed in Congress. President Trump is reported to have generated approximately $515 million in revenue from the sale of WLFI tokens. This agreement confirms the timing for a large volume of insider tokens to enter the market, although the method of handling these holdings may change depending on whether the bill passes.
