CZ Warns Phishing is More Dangerous than Bitcoin Decryption
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder of Binance, warned that phishing and personal data leaks pose a greater risk than the need for AI to decrypt Bitcoin's cryptographic system. He explained that the internet and banking systems rely on cryptographic technologies that are more vulnerable than Bitcoin, and if AI's decryption capabilities become a realistic threat, the existing financial system could face greater risks. Zhao emphasized that phishing attacks are possible with leaked personal information, warning that attackers could disguise themselves as acquaintances using messages generated by AI. In this regard, Ethereum researcher Justin Drake argued that the digital asset market should prepare for a 'bunker mode,' warning that AI could undermine cryptographic systems within months. However, no actual attack cases have been confirmed to date. The Bitcoin Core developers are changing the way vulnerabilities are disclosed in response to the spread of AI, quickly fixing easily discoverable vulnerabilities and updating security advisories. Low-risk flaws will be disclosed two weeks after the release of major versions, while medium to high-risk flaws will remain undisclosed until the end of support for the final version.
