Coinbase AI Programming System Forge Becomes Core Component of OpenSWE
The internal AI programming ecosystem Forge at Coinbase has become a core component of the open-source programming agent framework OpenSWE. This framework integrates systems developed by payment company Stripe and financial operations platform Ramp, providing capabilities such as agent orchestration, cloud sandbox, tool invocation, Slack/Linear/GitHub integration, sub-agents, and automated PR creation. A notable feature of the Forge platform is Mux, which currently has about 600 users within Coinbase, allowing engineers to orchestrate multiple AI agents simultaneously, enabling parallel workflows and breaking the limitations of sequential execution in traditional programming tasks. Feedback from frontline engineers regarding Forge and Mux is relatively limited, with publicly available detailed information primarily coming from Coinbase management, lacking independent evaluations from grassroots engineers.
