Anthropic Reports 14-Fold Revenue Increase and Prepares for IPO
Anthropic has reported a revenue increase of at least 14 times in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year, reaching over $11.5 billion, up from $787 million last year and $4.73 billion in the first quarter of 2026. Additionally, the company demonstrated a positive adjusted operating profit for the second quarter. The rapid revenue growth is attributed to the shift of corporate users and IT specialists towards Anthropic's software solutions, particularly for code writing and optimization. The annual revenue run rate in May exceeded $47 billion, while its competitor OpenAI stands at over $40 billion. Anthropic is holding private meetings with investors and has filed a confidential IPO application, collaborating with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase. The IPO launch in the fall will allow it to secure funding ahead of OpenAI and Chinese firm DeepSeek, which is also preparing for a stock offering. Since the beginning of the year, the IPO volume in the AI sector has reached $256.4 billion, the highest level since 2021. Earlier reports indicated that Anthropic had a deal with Riot Platforms worth over $9 billion for leasing data center computing power.
