$80.51 Billion Net Purchase: South Korea Ranks Third in U.S. Stocks
Private foreign investors have recorded a net purchase of $80.51 billion in U.S. stocks over the 12 months leading up to June 2026. South Korea ranked third in net purchases of U.S. stocks by country in 2025, with a total of $73.6 billion. The net purchase amount for June alone was $14.47 billion. The annual net purchase of foreign investors in U.S. stocks for 2025 is projected to be $720.1 billion, a 134% increase from $307.5 billion in 2024. Norway recorded the highest net purchase at $81.8 billion, followed by Singapore with $79 billion. In contrast, mainland China had a net sell of $34.1 billion. This statistic shows that private foreign investors account for the majority of net purchases of U.S. stocks. TIC statistics aggregate the overseas holdings and trading flows of U.S. securities and serve as an indicator of foreign capital inflow into U.S. stocks. However, the net purchase amounts by country can vary depending on trading routes, so caution is needed in interpretation. As of June 30, 2025, the U.S. Treasury reported that foreign holdings of U.S. stocks amounted to $19.843 trillion.
