WEEX Attains ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification, Reinforcing Its Commitment to World-Class Security
Since its founding in 2018, WEEX has operated on a simple belief: trust is not claimed, it is earned through verifiable standards. This ethos runs through every product decision we make, from backing user trust with a fully separated 1,000 BTC Protection Fund, to publicly verifiable Proof of Reserves above 100%, and multi-layer account security. Protection isn't a promise, it's something users can verify themselves. Compliance and security aren't departments at WEEX, they're the foundation everything else is built on.
Today, we're sharing the next milestone in that journey. WEEX has officially attained ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification (ref. 260826/1), the internationally recognized standard for information security management systems (ISMS), following an independent audit conducted by Swiss Approval, an accredited international certification body, covering our policies, infrastructure, and operational controls.

What ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Actually Verifies
ISO/IEC 27001 is the world's most widely adopted framework for managing information security risk. Earning it isn't a matter of filling out a checklist — it requires demonstrating, under independent third-party audit, that an organization has systematic controls in place across areas including:
- Data protection and access control — how user and transaction data is stored, encrypted, and restricted from unauthorized access
- Risk assessment and incident response — documented processes for identifying, escalating, and resolving security threats before they become incidents
- Operational resilience — safeguards ensuring the platform continues to function reliably even under attempted attack or system stress
- Continuous improvement — an ongoing audit cycle, not a one-time snapshot, requiring recertification and regular reviews to maintain compliance
For our users, this certification is an independent, third-party confirmation of what WEEX has invested in behind the scenes: the same caliber of security discipline expected of regulated financial institutions, applied to a platform built for crypto and TradFi markets.
WEEX Security Practices: Engineered Defense at Every Layer
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification adds to security commitments WEEX has already made public, including the 1,000 BTC Protection Fund and infrastructure built to support 10 million users across markets from a single account. Where the Protection Fund addresses financial resilience, ISO/IEC 27001 addresses something equally critical but less visible: Design, development, operation, maintenance, and security management of cryptocurrency exchange platform services hosted on cloud infrastructure.
That same discipline extends into how WEEX protects crypto assets specifically: MPC-based hot wallets paired with air-gapped, multi-sig cold storage held in geographic redundancy, quorum-based key management, and on-chain monitoring integrated with analytics providers like Chainalysis and Elliptic. Every new listing goes through smart contract audits, every API sits behind schema validation and abuse detection, and critical systems are held to a recovery time under 2 hours — all tested continuously through bug bounty programs and red team exercises.
Together, this means ISO/IEC 27001:2022 isn't introducing new discipline to WEEX's security posture, it's independently certifying discipline that was already built in.
Why This Milestone Matters Right Now
This certification comes as WEEX returns to TOKEN2049 Singapore, October 7–8, as Platinum Sponsor for the third consecutive year. As WEEX brings AI-powered trading and broader access to markets including stocks and gold to the exhibition floor, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification provides an independently verified signal that this expansion is being built on rigorous security standards — reinforcing trust for both the global community WEEX meets in person and users trading worldwide.
Looking Ahead: Security as an Ongoing Commitment
Earning ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is not a finish line. As WEEX continues to broaden what "One Account. All Markets." means for its users, we remain committed to maintaining and building on the level of security discipline this certification represents, through regular independent audits and continuous investment in the systems that protect every trader on our platform.
Certifications like ISO/IEC 27001:2022 exist for a simple reason. As WEEX COO Andrew Weiner puts it, "Security claims are easy to make and hard to prove. An independent audit changes that." It means WEEX's security discipline isn't just something we say about ourselves, it's something a third party has examined and confirmed. That distinction is what real trust is built on.
