The Possibility of Bitcoin Reaching $1 Million by 2030 Remains
The direction Bitcoin will take by 2030 is believed to depend more on how much crypto assets will be integrated into financial and technological infrastructure rather than a new wave of individual investors. Key elements of this process include the clarification of the regulatory framework, the growth of the stablecoin market, the widespread adoption of AI-powered autonomous payments, increased institutional adoption, and the anticipated halving in 2028.
Uncertainty Continues on the Regulatory Front
Although efforts to regulate digital assets are ongoing in the U.S., the situation is still not finalized. The CLARITY Act, known as the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the Senate, did not receive the necessary 60 votes in the vote held on September 15, 2026. The bill received 49 supporting votes against 50 opposing votes.
The process did not end there. Republican Senator Thom Tillis has filed for a reconsideration. The bill aims to create a framework for digital commodities and clarify the jurisdictional boundaries between the SEC and CFTC. The SEC, as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, oversees capital markets, while the CFTC supervises commodity and futures markets.
Supportive politicians argue that clearer rules could reduce legal uncertainty and remove an additional barrier for banks, custodians, and asset managers.
In contrast, criticisms focus on consumer protection, ethical standards, decentralized finance regulation, and exemption limits. Nevertheless, some senators from both parties involved in the negotiations stated that they wish to continue making progress on the legislative efforts following the failed vote.
The Impact of AI and Stablecoins is Coming to the Fore
One of the more striking theses regarding 2030 is the view that crypto growth may come not directly from individuals buying Bitcoin, but from AI systems participating in economic activity. It is noted that blockchain-based payment tools could become more suitable for software-based agents to purchase processing power, access paid databases, plan services, or send small payments to another agent.
In this context, stablecoins come to the forefront. Coinbase's x402 protocol allows software and AI agents to automatically make API and online service payments. Coinbase, as one of the largest crypto platforms based in the U.S., offers trading and custody services to institutional and individual users.
Mini glossary: x402 is a payment protocol aimed at facilitating automatic and programmable payment flows between internet services. ERC 20 is known as a widely used technical standard for creating tokens on the Ethereum network.
According to the analysis, AI systems may not need to transact directly with Bitcoin. Even an increase in stablecoin usage could create an indirect capital pool for Bitcoin by expanding blockchain-based economic activities.
Stablecoin Growth and Supply Constraints Shape Price Scenarios
The U.S. has taken more concrete steps in the stablecoin space. The GENIUS Act, which became law in July 2025, established a federal framework for stablecoin payments. Stablecoins serve as a bridge between the dollar system and blockchain markets. Once capital is transferred to the blockchain using regulated dollar tokens like USDC, USDT, or similar, transitioning to Bitcoin, Ethereum, tokenized securities, and credit markets becomes easier.
The strongest scenario for Bitcoin's outlook in 2030 requires not only a new crypto boom but also the asset becoming a significant reserve and store of value on a global scale.
On the supply side, Bitcoin's monetary policy remains unchanged. The halving planned for 2028 is expected to reduce the block reward from 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC. By 2030, a large portion of the total supply of 21 million will be in circulation. The share of new production within the total supply will be further limited.
In this context, a weak adoption scenario predicts a range of $80,000 to $150,000 for Bitcoin. In the base scenario, where institutional allocations continue, the stablecoin economy grows, and regulations become clearer, a range of $200,000 to $400,000 emerges. In a stronger structural transformation scenario, if Bitcoin captures a larger share of global savings, institutional portfolios, and potential corporate or government reserves, a range of $500,000 to $1 million could come into play.
