The Government Officialized New Salary Supplements for Security Forces: Who Receives Them and How Much
The government of Javier Milei has officially announced a new scheme of salary supplements and benefits for the personnel of federal security forces and the Federal Penitentiary Service (SPF), in addition to establishing new allowances for members of the Armed Forces.
The measure was formalized through decree 845/2026, which modifies various non-remunerative and non-bonusable benefits for the Federal Police, National Gendarmerie, Naval Prefecture, Airport Security Police (PSA), and the SPF.
For the Federal Police, the compensation "Professional Responsibility Health" has been introduced, aimed at professional staff with qualifying degrees who perform health-related tasks within the Superintendency of Welfare.
For the National Gendarmerie and the Naval Prefecture, the supplement "Strategic Operations Destination" has been created for those who carry out operational tasks in areas considered to be of high conflict. The benefit will have fixed amounts based on rank and will reach a maximum of 16% of active personnel in each force.
This limit may be extended in critical and temporary situations by the Ministry of National Security, with the involvement of the State Transformation and Public Function Secretariat and the Treasury Secretariat.
The Naval Prefecture will also incorporate the supplement "High Risk of Special Groups", aimed at personnel from the Special Police Operations Unit of the Albatros Group and infantry officers conducting high-risk operations.
Additionally, Gendarmerie and Prefecture will have the supplement "Zone", which will be calculated proportionally to the time spent in designated geographical locations. The Security portfolio may modify these locations and coefficients, with the involvement of the Technical Advisory Commission on Public Sector Salary Policy.
For the Airport Security Police (PSA), the bonus "High Complexity Destination" has been established, directed at personnel from the Preventive Security Operational Units of categories A and B. This benefit will be incompatible with supplements for Leadership, Hierarchical Task, and intermediate position or function.
The decree also establishes that most of these additional benefits will be incompatible with each other and with the "Additional Security Service." This compensation, funded by contributions from those requesting the service, will have a limit of 180 hours per month. Furthermore, the "Service Surcharge" has been created for extraordinary tasks performed outside of regular hours, with an additional 100% when the excess exceeds five daily hours.
In the case of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Government has also set the monthly salaries for trainee personnel: $779,942.83 for first-year cadets and $894,362.74 for aspirants. At the same time, the supplement for "Neighborhood Prevention Function" of the Gendarmerie has been repealed.
New Additions for the Armed Forces
In the same edition of the Official Bulletin, the Government established through decree 846/2026 two new salary benefits for active military personnel. The regulation modifies the provisions of the Law for Military Personnel No. 19,101 and implements the so-called "Supplement for High Specialization".
The additional has been divided into two categories. On one hand, the "Operational High Specialization Supplement" will apply to personnel who have the Special Command Aptitude and are assigned to special operations agencies or structures that carry out operations of exceptional complexity.
On the other hand, the "Operation and Maintenance of High-Performance Weapon Systems Supplement" will be aimed at those with specific technical training or certification who directly participate in the operation or maintenance of those systems.
The Ministry of Defense will be responsible for determining the functional and technical requirements, the personnel affected, and the agencies or weapon systems included. The payment of both supplements will be monthly.
The incorporation of these additions is in addition to the joint resolution 44/2026, issued together with the Ministry of Economy, which established a new scale of monthly salaries for military personnel of the Armed Forces and for the Naval Establishments Police starting in September.
According to the new salary scheme, military personnel will receive a 6.9% increase starting in September. This increase is in addition to the 17.62% accumulated between January and August, with a projected adjustment of 32% throughout 2026.
