Tether Provides $1.5 Billion Financing to Gold.com
Tether has provided approximately $1.5 billion in financing to the U.S. gold trader Gold.com, becoming its main funding source for precious metal leasing. Gold.com's annual report shows that as of the end of June, the company had about $1.7 billion in outstanding precious metal leases, most of which came from Tether; during the same period, Gold.com had accounts payable and advance payments to Tether totaling approximately $1.45 billion. Tether acquired a 12% stake in Gold.com earlier this year for $150 million. The platform offers dual trading channels for physical gold and tokenized gold, and Tether will integrate the gold token XAUT into Gold.com's infrastructure.
