Stablecoin transfers exceed 400 million dollars per hour on average
Average effective stablecoin transfer activity reached over 400 million dollars per hour in Q3, according to a report by Coinbase and The Block Pro Research. The report highlights that demand for payments outside U.S. banking hours is driving stablecoin usage, with approximately 73% of stablecoin transfer volume occurring outside U.S. bank operating hours over the 12 months ending July 31. It also notes significant cost savings for personal cross-border remittances, indicating that sending 200 USDC on the Base network costs about 86% less than traditional payment methods. The report estimates that if 80% of international transactions transition to stablecoin payment networks, an additional 155 billion dollars could be added to annual global GDP.
