Significant Decline in Economic Confidence Among American Republicans
Over the past six months, Republicans' confidence in the economy has significantly decreased, with the drop resembling that during the global financial crisis nearly two decades ago. Typically, the ruling party holds an optimistic view of the economy, while the opposition party is more pessimistic. However, even with the White House controlled by Republicans, GOP voters' perceptions of the economy have become increasingly negative. With only two months left until the election, this poses an unfavorable signal for Trump. The director of consumer surveys at the University of Michigan noted that usually, Republicans and Democrats exhibit similar trends in economic confidence, but the current situation is different. Republicans, who once held a positive view of the government's economic policies, have not seen a slowdown in inflation or a decrease in prices.
