Robinhood stock token volumes nearing SEC exemption cap
Robinhood's stock token trading volume is approaching the limit set by the U.S. SEC's innovation exemption, according to the company's crypto chief Johann Kerbrat. The SEC exemption imposes limits on trading volume and the types of assets eligible for tokenization. Kerbrat indicated that Robinhood is likely to reach the allowed threshold soon based on current trading volumes. He also mentioned plans to tokenize more U.S. stocks and ETFs as the SEC seems to recognize the benefits of tokenization. Notably, Robinhood's stock tokens are not available to U.S. users. The SEC's five-year innovation exemption also restricts the number of tradable listings and trading volume, while ensuring that the tokens provide the same rights as the underlying shares.
