Microsoft's AI Revenue Over Half Comes from OpenAI

Microsoft's latest disclosures indicate that a significant portion of its artificial intelligence revenue comes from OpenAI. In the fiscal year ending in June, Microsoft generated $24.1 billion in sales from OpenAI. CEO Satya Nadella stated that by the end of the March quarter, the company's AI business revenue is expected to reach $37 billion on an annualized basis. This disclosure suggests that OpenAI's revenue for the fiscal year 2026 will reach $24.1 billion, contributing to more than half of Microsoft's actual AI sales, and possibly around 70%. According to the agreement, OpenAI pays Microsoft for computing power, costs related to AI model development, and a share of certain revenues.
