Michael Saylor Suggests Banks Custody BTC and Provide Loans
Michael Saylor has released a policy proposal suggesting that Bitcoin should be regarded as digital capital, allowing banks to custody BTC under clear regulations and provide credit using BTC as collateral. He pointed out that insurance companies should also have a pathway to incorporate digital capital into their balance sheets. Saylor believes that the participation of financial institutions in Bitcoin custody and credit services will provide BTC holders with more ways to utilize their capital, potentially becoming a significant driver of growth in the cryptocurrency industry. Saylor criticized the 1250% risk weight assigned to certain crypto assets under the Basel Accords, advocating for regulators to reassess their treatment based on the actual risks of the assets and differentiate between various types of business. Additionally, he suggested establishing a Digital Rights Bill to grant individuals and businesses the rights to use digital assets, and he believes that the development of AI will drive the integration of digital assets with financial infrastructure, predicting that the digital asset industry could evolve into a $100 trillion sector.
