Massive Altcoin Trading Nearly Four Times Larger Than Bitcoin
The direct trading volume in altcoins is nearly four times that of bitcoin, according to analysis platform Glassnode. This ratio is the highest since September 2025. Glassnode signals a greater risk of a temporary spike in the bitcoin price but does not predict a certain decline. Altcoins, such as Ethereum, XRP, and Quant, are currently attracting the most trading activity. The large trading volume of altcoins indicates where most activity is taking place, but it does not automatically mean that four times as much new money is flowing into altcoins. The shift towards altcoins suggests that traders are willing to take on more risk, often after a strong period in the market. This behavior has often coincided with local peaks in the bitcoin price in the past, which may indicate a greater chance of cooling or correction in the short term. The demand for bitcoin currently seems vulnerable, with analysts monitoring the zone around $82,000; a drop below $81,800 could signal a longer correction.
