Marc Andreessen stated that the cryptocurrency sector has become an important argument for survival despite public pressure in Washington. Speaking on the a16z Crypto Show, Andreessen expressed that the previous White House administration adopted a harsh stance against the sector and pursued a sanctions-focused approach. However, he noted that the sector's ability to maintain its existence has led some lawmakers to adopt a more positive attitude towards crypto assets. Andreessen emphasized the need for a permanent and stable regulatory framework for crypto assets in the U.S. He pointed out the urgency of this framework and highlighted the importance of legal structures similar to the Clarity Act that are progressing in the Senate. He mentioned that in the absence of clear rules, unregulated structures abroad have gained an advantage, while companies complying with U.S. regulations have fallen behind in competition. Additionally, he cited the collapse of the overseas-based FTX as a consequence of the lack of a clear regulatory space. Andreessen argued that crypto assets should be addressed more comprehensively in terms of traceability and enforcement capacity.
