A cloture vote in the U.S. Senate to advance the CLARITY Act, a bill on crypto market structure, failed. Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that Democratic senators demonstrated a lack of genuine interest in consumer protection and preserving U.S. leadership. Lummis claimed that Democrats changed their demands during over a year of negotiations and altered the terms once Republicans complied. She accused Democrats of voting against U.S. leadership and catering to overseas competitors, including China. Lummis asserted that Democrats prioritized politics over the American people and yielded to what she termed a radical socialist base, labeling the Democratic Party as anti-American. Additionally, Crypto In America host Eleanor Terrett noted that Lummis, a key architect of the CLARITY Act, did not speak with reporters immediately after the vote.
