KuCoin Australia Representative: The Future of Agentic Commerce Depends on Trust
James Finch, the representative of KuCoin Australia, discussed the practical applications of agentic finance and the conditions for safe dissemination at the Crypto Winter 2026 panel held in Queenstown, New Zealand on September 1. The session's theme was 'Stablecoins and Agentic AI: Leading the Future of Online Commerce.' Finch explained that stablecoin payments enable machine-to-machine microtransactions without human intervention. He outlined three roles for exchanges: asset custody, on-chain dollar and currency connectivity, and user verification. He stated that while blockchain can demonstrate value transfer, user verification behind wallets is not possible. Finch added that KuCoin Australia is registered with AUSTRAC and holds an AFSL license, and that Australia's cryptocurrency regulatory framework will formalize this. He emphasized that user behavior is more important than the payment network, citing examples of customers holding USDC and completing payments through card networks. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of relief procedures in case of issues, assessing the current cautious approach as reasonable. He remarked, 'The speed of adoption will be slow until there is a place to go when problems arise.'
