Kalshi has submitted an application to regulators to launch perpetual contracts based on foreign exchange and interest rates. The application was submitted on Monday and had not appeared in the public filing system of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as of Tuesday afternoon. The CFTC approved Kalshi to launch Bitcoin perpetual contracts in May of this year, followed by the introduction of ETH and XRP perpetual contracts. Kalshi continues to expand its perpetual contracts to assets beyond cryptocurrencies, having submitted applications for gold, silver, and platinum perpetual contracts in July, and for U.S. large-cap stock indices and copper perpetual contracts on August 18. Kalshi aims to incorporate a variety of assets including stocks, commodities, cryptocurrencies, fixed income, and interest rates into a unified trading interface. Currently, the number of markets on the platform has increased from about 4,000 to around 10,000, with activity gradually spreading from a few popular markets to more markets.
