Gemini Switches Zcash Software, Prepares for NU7 Upgrade with 25-Second Block Time

Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has replaced its Zcash system software from Zebra to Zakura, reducing the time required for nodes to catch up with the network status from nearly a day to just over 6 hours. This change comes ahead of the planned NU7 upgrade for Zcash, which aims to shorten the block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, requiring network computers to process transactions at three times the original frequency. Developers aim to implement the mainnet upgrade on November 5, but Gemini has not yet released performance test results for Zakura under the faster block frequency.
