Ekiden Launches First Derivatives Exchange on Canton Network
Ekiden has announced the launch of its mainnet and the implementation of the first infrastructure for trading derivatives based on an order book in the Canton Network. The platform is aimed at professional trading firms, market makers, funds, banks, and institutional trading divisions. In the first week of operation in the Canton Network testnet, the project recorded 1,502 active users, over 72,000 transactions, and approximately $8.9 million in trading volume. Ekiden combines a centralized limit order book, RFQ-based settlements, and PropAMM integration. Users have access to a trading terminal and API for connecting aggregators and algorithmic trading platforms. According to data, 73% of institutional players plan to increase their share of digital assets in their portfolios by 2026. In May 2026, Ekiden raised $2 million in a seed round to develop its infrastructure. After the mainnet launch, the entire lifecycle of an institutional derivatives transaction can occur on-chain without position disclosure and capital movement. Liquidity on the platform is supported by market makers, including Keyrock, Kappa Lab, and Flowdesk.
