Cause of Death of Hack VC Partner Hsin-Ju Ruled as Suicide, Investigation Ongoing
On September 26, the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office confirmed that the death of former Hack VC partner Hsin-Ju was ruled a suicide. The California Highway Patrol stated that the investigation is still ongoing. Hsin-Ju was found dead near the Interstate 15 off-ramp in the Mojave Desert, California, on August 24, at the age of 37, just one day after she claimed she would expose Hack VC. At the time, investigators indicated that the cause of death was still under investigation and did not clarify whether it was due to high temperatures, sudden illness, or mechanical failure. Hsin-Ju tweeted on August 23 that she rejected Hack VC's settlement offer and planned to publicly disclose evidence related to her time at Hack VC on August 26. She alleged that the company required her to work during medical emergencies and threatened to blacklist her from the industry if she resigned early. After the incident, she stated that the company had issues with handling health insurance and continued to pressure her during legal negotiations. Hsin-Ju had fired her lawyer, expressing a willingness to forgo settlement money to make the matter public. Hack VC expressed concern over the situation, stating that their understanding of the events significantly differed from the content released by Hsin-Ju, and they preferred not to discuss details out of respect for privacy.
