Amazon and NVIDIA to Supply 2 Million GPUs for AI Between 2027 and 2028
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and NVIDIA announced a partnership to supply 2 million graphics processing units (GPUs) focused on artificial intelligence (AI) between 2027 and 2028. The agreement aims to deepen collaboration in AI centers, CPUs, networks, open models, data processing, and robotics, offering jointly developed AI solutions. AWS will deploy components from NVIDIA's Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra generations, along with central processing units (CPUs) designed for agent-based AI. Additionally, 'artificial intelligence factories' will be built for the U.S. Government, designed to train and operate large-scale models with 100,000 GPUs on classified infrastructure at impact level 6 or higher. This development coincides with the growing need for infrastructure for autonomous systems. Coinbase highlighted that AI agents are beginning to engage in economic activities, exposing limitations in the traditional financial system. The firm argued that finance was built for people who sleep, while autonomous agents require continuous operation. According to Coinbase, the real change occurs when an agent can pay for resources such as computing power and data in real-time, which relates to the demand for high-performance hardware from AWS and NVIDIA. AI agents have already executed over 100 million transactions on the Base network, a layer two solution of Ethereum.
