Aave Labs Proposes Establishment of Aave Foundation to Hold Trademarks and Intellectual Property
Aave Labs has proposed the establishment of a non-member foundation, Aave Foundation, in the Cayman Islands, aimed at holding the trademarks and related intellectual property of the lending protocol under the supervision of Aave DAO. The proposal covers the first phase, including the registration of the foundation and the appointment of independent directors, supervisors, and a secretary. The DAO will bear reasonable registration, legal, and establishment costs, without a continuous budget. Aave Labs and DAO service providers are not allowed to serve as directors or supervisors, and governance authority remains with the DAO, including decisions on protocol token listings, parameter adjustments, budgets, and service provider selections. Subsequent transfers of trademarks, domain names, and code IP will be submitted for governance review, and the foundation will disclose assets, operational expenditures, and related legal actions quarterly. If the community reaches a consensus, the proposal will enter the snapshot phase, followed by the submission of an AIP to authorize reasonable company registration fees, legal fees, and director appointment fees, ultimately completing the company registration in the Cayman Islands and appointing independent directors and supervisors. The transfer of trademarks, domain names, and code repository intellectual property will begin after the entity is established.
